What do you associate with the term VEB (Volkseigener Betrieb – a company wholly-owned by the people)?
To the average Western European or North American the acronym VEB will have little meaning. Yet, it was a cornerstone of life in East Germany. This fact-of-life permeated almost every aspect of existence, from shopping to employment to politics.
We desire to illustrate and explain this reality to our visitors. Exploring together we can clarify the complexities, separating fact from fiction, illuminating areas that are often shadowy and confusing. Let there be light.......
