The Wandzeitung - NewsSheet was in East German times more than a scrap- board where one posted a notice for a second-hand baby carriage or announced the dates of the next bowling tournament.

 

The emphasis here was most definitely on „news". Naturally, the NewsSheet editor made certain that there was an ideologically correct presentation of the day's happenings: May 1 (International Worker's Day), International Women's Day, The Day of the Republic, a call for Solidarity with Angela Davis or perhaps an award honoring the Best Worker. A NewsSheet was found in every classroom and in every business.

Here, our NewsSheet will also strive for relevance. In contrast to the GDR, it will be the voice of the common man which will be heard - your opinion, your reporting and your experiences. Send us an account of an East/West encounter or develop a theme which you feel is being overlooked.
